To reiterate What I tweeted in 2018, Gandhi proved to be an effective antidote against Hindutva as well as aligning with Hitler. To that extent he served Sri Aurobindo's purpose.

Sri Aurobindo declined to meet him but that doesn't exactly mean that Sri Aurobindo was against Gandhi. Churchill was wrong in many respects but Sri Aurobindo found him to be the most fit instrument to confront Hitler. Thus, history is a bit more comlex when #SriAurobindo enters.
Music to my ears but just think of yourself wasting precious years on Gandhi because of your father's influence. It's great that you find virtue in Sri Aurobindo now, but you have published precious little on him. The whole environment was like that. It will take some years now.
Critical appraisal is not opposition; it's done out of sympathy. But Gandhi was in the field and had to be utilised for specific purposes. Hindutva, as we understand today, was absent then. By Hindus, Sri Aurobindo meant Indians. There was no communal angle in his thinking.
Each person has his good and bad side. Gandhi needn't be mocked in such derogatory way. A more scientific and objective appraisal is warranted.

There must be a reason why Gandhi and Sri Aurobindo were born in opposite sides of India and never met during three decades. Present generation must probe into this whole scenario for a wealth of information and insights is waiting to be discovered. This is an Evolutionary task.

There was great appreciation for diversity of self expression in Ari Aurobindo and in Gandhi ! Sri Aurobindo wrote on the difference between unity and uniformity! It will be unjustified to think that he characterised Gandhi as “bad” ! I have upcoming books on both thinkers !
Sri Aurobindo only comments on his attitude to life, not on the pitfalls in his life. But even Gandhi's attitude to life and politics didn't match with Sri Aurobindo's, especially in the early 1940s, when Sri Aurobindo declined to meet him. Pl read SA n the Cripps Mission.

I think it might have been in the sense that Gandhi's spiritual endeavors were really restricted to the domain of morality or ethics & did not rise beyond. When I tried to follow Gandhi that's all I cud derive. Gandhism at best rose to level of moral purity & principled idealism.
